The stainless steel lid - what is it good for?
A popular accessory for the stainless steel fire bowl is the stainless steel lid. Fire bowl owners often ask themselves: Do I need the stainless steel lid? And if so, what functions does the lid serve?
Like all of our fire bowls, the stainless steel lid is made of high-quality V2A stainless steel and is manufactured at the Stahlkunst Stainless Steel Factory. The stainless steel lid weighs about 6 kilograms, giving it a solid heft—it won’t be blown over by strong winds. The stainless steel lid is also rust-free, corrosion-resistant, and weatherproof, so it can remain outdoors year-round, come rain or shine. For easier handling, the edges of the lid are specially ground at our factory so that you can grip it easily. As a result, the entire edge of the lid—all the way around—is “flat” to ensure a high level of safety during use.
Features of the Stainless Steel Lid for the Fire Bowl
The stainless steel lid offers very useful features for your fire bowl. First of all, the stainless steel lid has a diameter of approximately 72 cm and thus protrudes slightly from the Stahlkunst Designer “Exzentrik” stainless steel fire bowl, for example. By completely covering the fire bowl, the stainless steel lid acts as rain protection, preventing rainwater from collecting inside the fire bowl and keeping it dry at all times. This saves you from having to tip the fire bowl over the next time you have a campfire—and depending on the weather, the fire bowl can fill up with water after a few days, making it heavy and causing it to tip over, which can be a nuisance.
Another advantage of the stainless steel lid is that the fire bowl stays dry at all times, making it easier to light the firewood. If the fire bowl is wet and the firewood is lit in a damp environment, it may take a little longer to get the fire going. Furthermore, after a campfire when the embers are low, you can simply place the stainless steel lid on the fire bowl and let the remaining embers burn out in a “closed” environment. The advantage is that the ashes then stay dry and can serve as kindling the next time. Or you can use the ashes from the fire bowl directly as natural fertilizer and incorporate them into the garden. This way, you don’t have to remove the ashes from the fire bowl every time—you can leave them in the fire bowl until it’s “full,” at which point you’ll have collected enough ashes to use in the garden or dispose of in the trash all at once.
In addition to the advantages mentioned so far, we now come to another major benefit. Thanks to the stainless steel lid, it’s possible to use the beautiful Stahlkunst fire bowl as a table. Since the lid covers the entire Stahlkunst fire bowl and is made of sturdy, strong stainless steel, it’s ideally suited for this purpose. With its high level of stability, you can simply place the lid on top of the fire bowl and then set any items—such as bottles, glasses, or plates—on it. Since the Stahlkunst fire bowl stands out not only for its high quality but also for its incomparably beautiful appearance, using it as a lounge table is particularly practical. The “Exzentrik” designer stainless steel fire bowl from our workshop, for example, is 35 cm tall, making it the ideal height for a lounge table when seated. This means you can use the fire bowl not only as a stylish fire pit or an elegant piece of garden furniture but also as a beautiful lounge table. After all, while many people have a dining table in their garden, they rarely have a low-height lounge table that’s quick and easy to reach while sitting or lying down. With the stainless steel lid, you can then use the fire bowl as the central lounge table or as an additional side table.
