The stainless steel fire bowl - with or without rainwater hole?

We are often asked by our customers whether they should order a Stahlkunst stainless steel fire bowl with or without a rainwater borehole. In this small article we list the advantages and disadvantages of a rainwater borehole on a stainless steel fire bowl

A rainwater borehole in the stainless steel fire bowl - what is it anyway?

A rainwater drain is a small drilled hole in the middle of the stainless steel fire bowl. The drill hole serves to prevent rainwater from accumulating in the fire bowl and draining off immediately. Alternatively, you would have to dump out the fire bowl after every heavy rain if you want to light a bonfire. Otherwise, the stainless steel fire bowl getting full of water is not a problem - since the stainless steel we use remains weatherproof, rustproof & corrosion resistant, rainwater does not affect the fire bowl. If you do not want to make a campfire, you can leave the rainwater in the fire bowl without any problems.

Disadvantage of the rainwater borehole

The rainwater borehole thus has the function of making handling somewhat easier for the fire bowl owner and making it no longer necessary to tip the fire bowl over before use. However, the borehole has the disadvantage that if there are still ashes or other dirt particles in the fire bowl, these can also run off. Often this is not the case, because the ash residues are too coarse for the borehole and do not mix with the rainwater. However, the theoretical possibility exists. Furthermore, you should keep in mind that dumping the fire bowl does not happen often and this does not require a lot of effort - it is easy to handle and is done quickly, in total it takes only a minute.

The alternative: The stainless steel lid for your fire bowl

If you do not want rainwater to collect in your stainless steel fire bowl and do not want to have a rainwater hole, you can also use our stainless steel lid as rainwater protection. The lid is also made of high quality stainless steel and remains rust-free & weatherproof - so this is excellent for combining with the stainless steel fire bowl. Our lid completely covers your stainless steel fire bowl from our company and does not allow rainwater to flow in. In addition, the useful accessory can be used to turn the fire bowl into a beautiful lounge table or to cover hot ashes. The lid thus offers several practical functions and is enormously popular among our customers - most customers order their Stahlkunst stainless steel fire bowl with the stainless steel lid. Feel free to contact our manufactory's customer service if you have any questions about this.
